Dipyridylphenylaminosilole: a case of luminescence enhancement by chromophoric synergism

High performance single-layer organic electroluminescent (EL) devices based on 1,1-dimethyl-2,5-bis(p -2,2′-dipyridylaminophenyl)-3,4-diphenylsilole as both electron and hole-transporting material are described. This compound displays a very high EL performance in the yellow-green domain with a maximum efficiency of 27 Cd/A and 6 lm/W. In comparison with the other siloles described by Tamao et al. such luminescence enhancement may originate from an energy transfer from the 2,5-diaryl side-groups to the central silole ring. Nous décrivons dans cette communication la réalisation et l'évaluation de diodes électroluminescentes organiques monocouches à hautes performances basées sur le 1,1-dimethyl-2,5-bis(p -2,2′-dipyridylaminophenyl)-3,4-diphenylsilole agissant à la fois en tant que transporteur de trous et d'électrons. Ce composé présente de très bonnes propriétés en électroluminescence dans le domaine de couleur jaune-vert avec une efficacité de 16 Cd/A et 4 lm/W à 100 Cd/m2. En comparaison avec les autres siloles décrits par Tamao et al. une telle amélioration des performances peut être expliquée par un mécanisme de transfert d'énergie entre les groupes aryles en position-2,5 et le noyau silole central.
